A wind of "Dream and Fantasy" – As an enlightener of an inner personal and irrational world or as the ideal projection of a magical world,
a dream is a source of inspiration for some, a creation mainspring for others. Surrealism in plastic arts is an extension of a pictorial
tradition where symbols, allegory, fantastic elements and myths play a major part.
Fantasy has its origins at the very heart of the unusual, of everything that reminds of whims, fancy and vagaries. It outlines strangeness,
what no one dares painting but that torments the human conscience. It causes strong emotional effects, crossing the threshold of prohibition
and unspoken words.
Nation and world-famous artists have come to let us dream, bringing unexpected and extraordinary material that will take us on the border of
fantasy, like these contemporary masters of the imaginary world, of which: Michaël Parkes, Moebius, Arnau Alemany, Micha Arkhipoff, Miriam Escofet,
Lamy, Pierre Lacombe, Milthon, Niki de Saint Phalle, Patrick Mimran, George, Yoshitaka Aman...
Their works are eccentric, extravagant, displaying unexpected lights and remarkable scenes, like a breath on Sanary-sur-Mer, which is the theme
of the Vent des Arts second edition, taking place from the 12th May until the 12th June 2006.
This large concept is a major event and follows three axes, to fulfil a cultural, an educational and a festive target. Art spreads across the city
and turns it to a stage where the visitor can become the passenger of a dream journey to the world of fantasy. Huge and mobile sculptures,
extraordinary machines, paintings and installations, dances and street shows, "Maison d'Enfant & Sucre d'Orge", illuminated extravaganza, projections
on the old stone walls of the city or inside art galleries, all seem to invite us to dream and fantasy.
The dreamlike, fantastic, surrealistic, fanciful, legendary worlds of the creators are shown via paintings, sculpture, photography and installations,
but also through the dance, cinema and animation movies, the fantastic comic strip exhibition, literature forums and the conferences...
